Contributors to the Alliance Electronic Journal Access Project

The Electronic Journal Access Project is part of a development effort by the nonprofit Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries (The Alliance). Hardware funding was received from the State Library of Colorado through the Library Services and Construction Act (LSCA). As with any major web development project, this home page is the result of collaborative work by many individuals.

The e-journal project and web site are the result of work begun in the fall of 1995 and partially funded by an LSCA grant. This home page provides a title and subject organization of electronic serial publications (e.g. journals, newsletters, magazines, e'zines, webzines) on the Internet. The project also funds the loading of selected e-journals on the local server. Local loading will allow easier access for some titles currently on the Internet and will provide new titles not previously available on-line.

There are certainly other e-journal web pages on the Internet. However, one of the major advantages of the Alliance developing and managing its own e-journal web page is that we will have the ability for local sites to make suggestions for additions and enhancements. Colorado electronic serials can be highlighted. There will be a high performance level performance since the server is located in the state and accessible to everyone. The loading or mirroring of electronic serials on a local server ensures their continued availability. Local accountability insures the quality of the product.
